Союзники один за другим отказывают американской армии даже в пассивной помощи, такой как пропуск самолетов армии США через свое воздушное пространство или их посадке и заправке на европейских аэродромах.

Трамп угрожал пересмотром обязательств США по отношению к НАТО и давал понять, что не будет защищать ее членов автоматически, требуя резко увеличить их военные расходы.
Источник в министерстве обороны Италии подтвердил газете "Corriere della Sera", что американские бомбардировщики планировали посадку на базе "Сигонелла" — ключевом объекте ВМС США и НАТО — перед вылетом на Ближний Восток.
Газета поясняет, что, по соглашениям конца 1950-х годов, США могут использовать базу для логистики и обучения, но не как транзитный пункт для самолётов, перевозящих вооружение, за исключением чрезвычайных ситуаций — и только с одобрения парламента Италии.
США запросили разрешение на посадку уже в пути, не пройдя необходимую парламентскую процедуру. При этом времени на получение одобрения не было.
На фоне роста активности на базе после начала войны с Ираном политики левой оппозиции на Сицилии требуют от правительства Джорджи Мелони разъяснений и призывают запретить использование итальянских баз США для участия в конфликте.
Трампа, разумеется, не интересуют юридические аспекты и статьи соглашений: он хочет видеть помощь от союзников по НАТО, когда США в этом нуждаются.
"Washington Post" пишет, что Франция тоже отказала США в дозаправке на своих базах самолетов, участвующих в войне в Иране, разрешив это только самолетам, не причастным к бомбардировкам. А американским транспортникам, доставляющим вооружения в Израиль, запретили пролет над Францией.
Президент США заявил в интервью CBS, что не собирается сражаться в Заливе за европейские интересы.
"Все те страны, которые не могут получить авиационное топливо из-за Ормузского пролива — такие как Великобритания, которая отказалась участвовать в “обезглавливании” Ирана, — у меня есть для вас предложение. Во-первых, покупайте у США — у нас его достаточно. А во-вторых, наберитесь, пусть и с опозданием, смелости, отправляйтесь к проливу и просто возьмите его под контроль", — сказал Трамп в телефонном интервью.
“Самое сложное сделано. Идите и берите свою нефть! Иран, по сути, уже разгромлен. Вам придётся учиться самим отстаивать свои интересы — США больше не будут приходить вам на помощь, так же как вы не пришли на помощь нам. Они не хотят помогать никому. НАТО ужасен. Все они ужасны", — предупредил президент европейцев.
Франции досталось отдельно: "Франция не позволила самолётам, направлявшимся в Израиль с военными грузами, пролететь над своей территорией. Франция была очень непомогающей в вопросе “мясника Ирана”, который был успешно ликвидирован! США это запомнят!».
Таким образом, конфликт вокруг Ирана начинает выходить за рамки региональной войны, обнажая более глубокий кризис внутри НАТО. Если союзники всё чаще будут отказываться от даже ограниченной поддержки, а Вашингтон — отвечать угрозами пересмотра обязательств, Альянс может столкнуться с самым серьёзным испытанием за последние десятилетия.
